Sharon Taylor
Sheramics Art
Rooted in a scientific background and formal fine art training at The Slade School of Art, City Lit, and postgraduate study in Professional Ceramics Practice, my work bridges creative expression with technical precision.
Through Sheramics Art, I create one-of-a-kind ceramic artworks that are hand-built or wheel-thrown, then transformed through layered surface decoration, carving, and painterly mark-making. My practice draws on the organic beauty of nature and abstract interpretations of the human form, exploring themes of resilience, interconnectedness, and renewal.
Each piece is individually conceived and decorated, allowing it to exist as a personal, contemplative object as much as a sculptural presence. My work often reflects the dialogue between art and science, informed by years of observing the human body, emotion, and healing.
I work in small, thoughtful batches, using renewable materials wherever possible. Pieces are typically fired twice and finished through a multi-stage colouring and glazing process, often at stoneware temperatures of around 1260°C. The result is a body of work that is durable yet expressive — ceramic forms intended not simply for use, but for reflection, connection, and quiet impact within a space.
